MK3 VW GTI vr6 motor swap
Sunday, November 17, 2013
So I got in a friends VW GTI that has the 2.0L 4 cylinder and he wanted me to swap the 2.8L vr6 into it for more power, so this is what i started with. After I got it up on jack stands and removed the front end you can see what we are working with. This thing was a wiring nightmare to begin with. Now after removing the engine and wiring i scrubbed the frame rails so it looks nice and clean for when I reassemble it. You also have to remove all of the motor mounts because of the difference in weight and torque. Now after I set the motor in, it is starting to look a lot cleaner.
Got the motor all wired in and started for the first time to make sure everything was done correct.. and yes it was perfect.
Here it is about 18 hours after it rolled into my garage. This motor is completely rebuilt 0 miles..
This was the complete break down and build up of this motor for my buddy.. it was so nice I wish I had done this one for myself after it was complete.. it drove so smooth just like a brand new car.
